Mashups: Taylor Swift's Newest Introduction to the Eras Tour
Megastar Taylor Swift stunned audiences in South East Asia and Australia with mashups of fan favorite songs during her surprise song sets at The Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour has taken the world by storm with its insane popularity, unique attire, & ability to keep all fans of the international pop star on their toes. The Eras Tour, an international concert tour spanning two years and 5 continents, kicked off in March of 2023. The shows have been divided by their geographical legs, with the most recent consisting of a handful of dates in South East Asia and Australia.
The Eras Tour has been set apart from the first 5 concert tours the megastar produced with its inclusion of “surprise songs” – two songs, one played on an acoustic guitar with the second on a piano, that are not included in the original setlist as a surprise for the attendees. However, these surprises have been heightened with her newest addition of mashups.

The Eras Tour’s second night in Melbourne, Australia, shocked the crowd of over 90 thousand when the guitar surprise song, “Getaway Car” from her Reputation album, seamlessly transitioned into a mashup with Fearless’s “The Other Side of the Door.” This mix of two fan favorite Swift hits went viral on both X and TikTok, introducing a new possibility for future shows of the tour.
Night three in Melbourne mirrored the second with the acoustic surprise song consisting of a beautiful combination of Red’s “Come Back… Be Here” and “Daylight” from Lover. The trend continued for one more night in Sydney, Australia, however the piano set is where the mashup occurred between “White Horse” and “Coney Island” from Fearless and Evermore, respectively (Which added a new layer of surprise for Swifties when concert opener Sabrina Carpenter joined her side at the piano!).

The obsession over the mashup introduction – duh, 4 surprise songs is always better than 2 – was clearly heard by the superstar. For the remaining 3 shows in Sydney, and the following 6 in Singapore, both the guitar and piano options were mashups. This opens the door of possibility for what Taylor Swift could bring to the table for future legs of The Eras Tour, and we simply will not know until May.
